Jay Taylor

James Harvey “Jay” Taylor, Jr., 99, Cave City, passed away at his daughter’s home in Elizabethtown, Ky. on Friday January 7th, 2022, just a few weeks short of his 100th birthday. He was born on February 15, 1922 in Elizabethtown to the late James Harvey Sr. and Agnes Faye Pittman Taylor.

Jay, as everyone called him, was married to Joy Hogan on March 15, 1947, a Cave City girl. They lived together in Cave City, Kentucky until Joy passed away on April 4, 1992. Jay would tell everyone that the Hogan family brought him love, family and Joy!

He graduated from Glendale High School and received his Associates Degree from the Wisconsin University. He was a WW II veteran and served in the United States Army Air Corps. Jay was an entrepreneur and owned several businesses, including The Wigwam Village and the Ramada Inn in Cave City. He received his real estate license and became a real estate agent in the cave area. He was a member of the Church of Christ.

Jay loved the outdoors. When asked what his favorite thing to do was he said, “Enjoying God’s creation”.

He is survived by one daughter, Lyn Taylor Long, who lives in Elizabethtown and the Hogan family who he loved dearly, and his cat, Garfield.

Graveside services will be held at 11 AM on Tuesday, January 11, 2022 at the Cave City Cemetery. There will be no visitation.
