Anna Carolyn Monroe

 

Anna Carolyn Lyles Monroe, 88, passed away Tuesday, September 08, 2020 at NHC in Glasgow. She was born February 08, 1932 in Warren County to the late James Elvis and Ada Willis Lyles and was the widow of J Y Monroe. She was the owner of Monroe Brothers Feed Mill where she was the bookkeeper and secretary. She was a member of Highland United Methodist Church where she served as pianist for ten years.

Carolyn had a love for the community and was recognized as the Cave City Chamber of Commerce Citizen of the Year and the B & PW Woman of the Year. She was also a member of the Barren County Homemakers and a charter member of the Cave City Firefighters’ Auxiliary. She served as a Cub Scout den mother and a Methodist youth leader. She was honored to be a KY Colonel. Perhaps she is best known for her skills at baking and decorating delicious wedding cakes.

Survivors include her son Steve Monroe (Betsy), Illinois; a daughter Sandy Rogers, Cave City; a brother, James Lyles (Margaret); a grandchild, Lindsey Conkle (J R); great grandchildren, Lily Conkle and Libby Conkle; nieces, Lisa, Karen and Sherry. She was also preceded in death by her son-in-law, Mark Rogers.

An outdoor celebration of life with Rev. Scott Milby officiating will be held Sunday, September 13 at 2 PM at 4118 Mammoth Cave Road (in front of Singing Hills Campground). The family asks that you bring your lawn chair and celebrate Carolyn’s life with them. A potluck meal will follow for family and friends.

There will be no visitation. Cremation was chosen.

Due to the current Covid-19 Crisis the KY Governor has mandated that everyone wear a mask or face covering and maintain safe distancing of 6 feet. Hugging and shaking hands are discouraged.
